Eco Plumbing is an innovative company based in London, specialized in plumbing, heating and renewable energies. It has been created by two enterpreneurs who strongly believe that the diffusion of eco-friendly technologies has become a priority.

Eco Plumbing is engaged in the renewable market for several reasons. First of all, the fear of global warming , the high and unstable oil prices and supply, and even the political unrest are all driving the UK and the rest of the world to alternative sources. And where would be a better place to start reducing our carbone emissions than home ? In Europe 2/3 of the total CO2 emissions is due to central heating for both homes and businesses. " You might think there is no eco-friendly way to tackle a burst pipe or a new hot-water system, but you've not yet encountered Ben Dussaix, of Eco Plumbing. A Frenchman who once ran a nightclub in the ski resort of Chamonix, he joined forces with a friend", Soufyane Abbaoui, " three years ago to start a green plumbing business. When they expanded to London last summer, their first clients were British second-homers for whom they had worked in Chamonix.

Like all his green colleagues, he makes a point of pitching his charge low (from £70 per hour; 020 8459 4999, ecoplumbingtech.co.uk). He also keeps clients informed about the government grants to which they are entitled. He will fit a rainwater-harvesting system - "With advanced filters, you can even drink it" - that can save 70% on water bills.

Who are his clients? "Mainly women", Dussaix declares. Why? "Because they are in charge. And i think that's good. Men care, but in general a little bit less."
